World Series odds of the three hottest teams in baseball

The MLB’s July 15th trade deadline saw a few teams go all in on a World Series title this season. While they may have risked some of their future, it won’t matter if it all pays off in the end. It’s not like the Milwaukee Bucks are regretting trading the house for Jrue Holiday…

Other teams, however, sold off their remaining players of value, reorienting their sights towards the distant future — we’re looking at you, Cubs and Nationals. With a little more than a month remaining in the regular season, here are three teams to keep an eye on 👇

New York Yankees: +2000 (bet $100, win $2000)

Back in April, the Yankees entered the season with the second best odds of any team to win the World Series at +550. Instead, injuries, COVID protocols, and underperformance dropped their odds to as high as +3000 over the summer

However, trades for a pair of left-handed sluggers in Anthony Rizzo and Joey Gallo have helped them turn things around

• On July 3rd, the Yankees were 10.5 games back of the Red Sox

• Now, New York one game up on the Red Sox for the last Wild Card spot

• This marks the third-largest deficit either team has erased in the history of the rivalry

• The Yankees are still 5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays

The recent surge has doubled New York’s odds of making the playoffs, up to 67% from 33% on July 7th

At +2000, the Yankees have the eighth best odds to win the World Series, but post a top-three record since the All Star break at 23-8. Consider buying into the Yankees ASAP

San Francisco Giants: +800

The team pacing the National League West is the +800 Giants, who own the best record in the MLB at 78-43. While the Dodgers get most of the attention, they are actually 3.5 games behind SF

Seemingly out of nowhere, San Francisco has rallied around resurgent years from a handful of vets thought to be past their primes, such as Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford, and Evan Longoria

Although 2021’s an odd-numbered year, this team seems to have a whiff of the same kind of magic that fueled SF to championships in 2010, ’12 and ’14

At +800, they’re not quite as appetizing as other contenders, but, top to bottom, their pitching has been the best in baseball this season. If you believe in defense, the Giants are the team you should put your money on to bring home another World Series title

Los Angeles Dodgers: +300

The Dodgers entered the season as favorites to repeat, and their odds reflect their powerhouse of a roster. To make life even better for LA fans, they doubled down with two MASSIVE splashes at the deadline

In a blockbuster deal with the Washington Nationals, LA added a generational ace in Max Scherzer and All-Star shortstop Trea Turner. The trade brought the Dodgers to SEVEN All-Stars in this year’s game alone

However, like the Yankees, the Dodgers still stand in second place in their division (3.5 games behind the Giants). If the season ended today, they’d need to win a one-game playoff in order to make it into a Division Series

Still, their full-strength roster has talent unmatched by any squad in recent memory, making them the safest bet to win it all
