🏈 Playoff Football Is Here

The last week of the regular season shuffled the NFL playoff field quite a bit, leaving us with some very intriguing matchups in the Wild Card round. There's a pair showdowns to look forward to tomorrow, and let's just say one of them might get a bit chilly. Big weekend for revenge games 🥶 (2 min read)

Wild Card Saturday Preview

Week 18 in the NFL began with more than a handful of playoff spots still up for grabs, so as you might expect, it was quite the wild weekend. When it was all said and done, here’s the playoff field we were left with 👇

The regular season ended in style, with the Buffalo Bills picking up a nail-biting SNF victory over the Miami Dolphins to secure their fourth-straight AFC East title. Thanks to that division crown and their newfound home-field advantage until the conference championship, the Bills are a surging Super Bowl pick…they now find themselves with the third-best odds (+650) 📈

  • The Niners (+220) and Ravens (+320) hold steady as the two biggest favorites, and the odds for the rest of the contenders also remain pretty similar to our check-in last week. Take a full look a FanDuel’s Super Bowl odds here

The Wild Card round (full schedule here) is set to kick-off Saturday afternoon, before concluding with one last iteration of MNF. The six-game slate is loaded with juicy matchups you won’t want to miss — here’s a quick look at the two going down tomorrow ⬇️

  • Spread: Browns -2.5

  • Moneyline: Browns -126, Texans +108

  • O/U: 44.5

Safe to say this isn’t a playoff matchup many people saw coming before the season started. And that’s without even knowing the Browns’ QB would be 38-year-old Joe Flacco 😂

  • Well, if we’re getting technical, he’s actually their fourth QB. The Browns have trotted out five different starting quarterbacks this season, and yet they’re somehow in the playoffs. Kevin Stefanski, you deserve all the COTY hype you’re getting 🤝

But then again, so does the guy set to be on the opposite sideline tomorrow. The Texans were supposed to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season, but instead first-year head coach DeMeco Ryans led them to an AFC South crown 👑

The head coach isn’t the only one in the organization in contention for some hardware. Like the Jets last season, the Texans have a chance to sweep both offensive and defensive ROY awards with budding superstars C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr. 💪

  • The future is undeniably bright in Houston, but can the young guns make any noise this postseason? Despite being on the road, oddsmakers are backing the Browns and their stingy defense in this one…and maybe a QB with a history of elevating his game in the playoffs is swaying the line as well 😏

  • Spread: Chiefs -4.5

  • Moneyline: Chiefs -230, Dolphins +190

  • O/U: 44

Surprised to see such a modest O/U total despite two of the most dynamic offenses in the league facing each other? Well, there’s a perfectly logical explanation 🥶

Big props to any fans planning to power through the elements. The Dolphins are the only team in the league putting up over 400 yards of offense a game, but the weather certainly throws a wrench into any expectations on that side of the ball. And even before factoring in the snow, both teams were already facing enough questions marks about their true upside…

If the two teams are forced to the ground, Miami may have the advantage, thanks to a truly dynamic duo. Raheem Mostert racked up 21 total TDs this season (but is questionable to play), while rookie De’Von Achane is averaging an insane 7.8 YPC 🤯

  • Kansas City isn’t just the Mahomes show anymore though. Isiah Pacheco has looked like one of the league’s better backs over the second half of the season, and he could be in for a big night 😤

TBH, barring a dramatic change in the forecast, there’s a good chance I stay away from this one. Well, expect for maybe a little bit of action on Tyreek Hill finding the endzone in a stadium he knows pretty well (+140) 😏

Trivia Question: Who was the last player to catch a TD from Joe Flacco in the playoffs?

For My Parlay Gurus

I love the Joe Flacco renaissance as much as the next guy, but this Texans’ team is just too fun to root against. I’m backing the underdog kids on their home field, and you know I’m a sucker for a revenge games, so let’s sprinkle some Tyreek anytime tuddy on top. Check out this parlay 👇

  • Texans ML vs. Browns: +108

  • Tyreek Hill Anytime TD: +145
