🏀 NBA In-Season Tournament

The NBA's in-season tournament continues tonight with five games. Embiid and LeBron get the TNT slots, while a Scoot Henderson-less Portland team pays a visit to the Valley where a KD and Book duo are beginning to heat up. Expect another exciting handful of games 🤝 (3 min read)

The Old Guard

Doesn’t it feel like on any given night, there is a competitive NBA game to be played, regardless of conference? There are really only a few easy wins across both the East (Bulls, Hornets, Wizards & Pistons) and West (Jazz, Grizzlies, Blazers & Spurs). Before we get into tonight’s slate of in-season tourney games, it’s truly insane what the league’s elder statesmen are doing right now. Unprecedented stuff 👏

You’ve probably already seen some highlights of the Lakers and Rockets game at this point, but LeBron was able to share them with Bronny, who was in the building ❤️

LeBron and his year 21 accomplishments aside, the man does play again tonight, along with Embiid and KD. Here’s are two games to watch 👇

📍 Cavs @ Sixers Preview

On the early side of things, the Cavs travel to Philadelphia to cool off arguably the hottest team in the East. Philly is 8-2 in their last 10 games

  • It’s the Sixers’ final group play-in game, and Nick Nurse told reporters that the team is going to bring the intensity. Cleveland does have the bodies to throw at the Philly big man with Mobley and Allen

  • Philly needs to win tonight in order to move past the in-season tournament’s group play stage, as they remain a game out of the East wild card spot

  • Spread: Sixers -7.5

  • Moneyline: Sixers -330, Cavs +265

  • O/U: 220.5

  • When: 7:30PM EST on TNT

📍 Jazz @ Lakers

So Utah is a team that doesn’t play defense — they currently rank second to last in the association in defensive rating, allowing 122 PPG. They can score in bunches, but are going up against a Laker team that has excelled in the play-in games so far, being the only team to go undefeated in their three contests ⭐️

  • If the Lakers manage to beat the Jazz, they’ll be three games over .500, an accomplishment they hadn’t achieved last season until April 4th

  • Earlier I mentioned that Utah is one of the easier matchups in the league, but they still are difficult to contain. Just ask KD and the Suns, who played in two wars against them. Ultimately, I think this game is high-scoring without much defense on display

  • Spread: Lakers -8

  • Moneyline: Lakers -335, Jazz +275

  • O/U: 236

  • When: 10PM EST on TNT

Trivia Question: Who leads the NBA in fourth quarter scoring?

For My Parlay Gurus

The Sixers have been rolling as of late, behind an elite offense and a formidable defense. The Cavs have started to figure it out, but I still like the Sixers to cover. In the late window, the Lakers have been steadily progressing, even if they have lackluster moments on both sides of the ball. After bricking everything against Houston, I expect some regression to the mean on their deep ball at home 👇

  • Sixers -7.5 vs. Cavs: -108

  • Lakers -8 vs. Jazz: -110
