NBA Overload

After clearing yesterday’s schedule in order to encourage viewers to participate in their state and local elections, the NBA is back tonight with a whopping 14 games taking place around the league. Before we highlight a couple of the most intriguing matchups though, check out some Monday night highlights of Ant doing cruel things to a Boston team that has been a world beater to start the year 💪

Actually, there is one more thing to highlight before moving onto tonight’s slate — James Harden’s Clippers debut on Monday night at the Garden 🍎

Personally, besides Monday’s loss, I’ve been a bit surprised by how well the Clippers have looked. The Warriors have also exceeded my expectations, despite predicting that they would finish fourth in the West. They very well could snag the second seed, considering Steph seems to still be getting better with age 💧

Now might be a good time to throw some money on Golden State to win the Pacific, considering they’re deadlocked around the same odds as Phoenix and the Clippers 👻

  • Warriors: +180

  • Suns: +220

  • Lakers: +460

  • Clippers: +500

  • Kings: +850

📍 Celtics vs. 76ers Preview

I was ready to pronounce a drop-off in Philadelphia’s regular season success (jury is still out on the postseason), but Maxey looks like he’s taken another leap and the offense is humming under Nick Nurse. They face their second real test of the early season with the Celtics coming into town, will Boston be able to slow down Embiid or will he continue to have his way?

  • If you were planning on throwing money on a Maxey points prop (21.5), you might want to adjust your figures considering he’s going up against a stout perimeter defense

  • Another key for this game will be whether Philly can do anything against Tatum (pts O/U set at 29.5). They have the bodies — Oubre, Marcus Morris, Covington and Tobias Harris — but none of those wings have the acumen to keep up with the elite forwards

  • Spread: Celtics -2

  • Moneyline: Celtics -132, 76ers +112

  • O/U: 227.5 Total Points

📍 Warriors vs. Nuggets Preview

The last two NBA champions converge in Denver in what should be the most exciting game of the night. Finals MVP against Finals MVP. Both teams have looked like the best squads in the West so far. Expect this contest to be explosive 💣

  • The Warriors are uniquely equipped to punish the Nuggets. I’m assuming Steph will call a lot of high pick and rolls to force Jokic to guard out to the perimeter, a task virtually no one is up for

  • Still, Denver also has the perimeter defense to chase after Steph all game. KCP and Christian Braun might need ice baths when it’s all said and done

  • I’d go out on a limb and call Steph the second best player in the league this year in his 35 year-old season, but the gap between Jokic and everyone else is just so wide. I think Denver continues to roll

  • Spread: Nuggets -3.5

  • Moneyline: Nuggets -172, Warriors +144

  • O/U: 227.5 Total Points

Trivia Question: What is the highest amount of NBA games played across the league in a single night?

For My Parlay Gurus

Along with the Nuggets, Boston has established itself as a juggernaut to begin this season. The re-tooled roster has only lost one game, during which Anthony Edwards had to go ballistic to win in OT. I like the Celtics to cover in this one. Over on the late side, the Nuggets and Warriors game has the makings of a shootout. I expect this one to be high scoring, as both teams can match each other’s pace. Check out my parlay 👇

  • Celtics -2 @ 76ers: -110

  • Warriors @ Nuggets Over 227.5 Total Points: -110
