🏈 6th-Year Senior & Heisman Favorite

Three of the top four Heisman candidates play in the Pac-12, but the new top dog on the odds board is not last year's winner. After an impressive 4-0 start, sixth-year senior Michael Penix Jr. has Washington humming...and might not slow down 🏆 (2 min read)

New Heisman Favorite

For a lame duck conference, the Pac-12 sure is making a lot of waves this college football season. And after four weeks of action, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that it’s home to the current Heisman favorite. But it's not the incumbent Caleb Williams we’re talking about here, or early-season darling Shedeur Sanders (especially after last weekend)...it’s Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. 🔥

  • The sixth-year senior, who formerly suited up for Indiana, has the undefeated Huskies humming to the tune of nearly 50 PPG so far, and he’s been putting up video game numbers in the process, with over 400 passing yards per game to go along with 16 TDs and just 2 INTs 😤

A second-team All-Pac-12 selection last year, we already knew Penix Jr. was legit, but it sure seems like he’s taken his game to another level this season. If he and #7 Washington can keep it up, he has a serious shot to become the school’s first ever Heisman winner…but he’ll face stiff competition from some of his conference mates 😏

  • That previously mentioned incumbent? Yeah, he’s still pretty good. There’s a reason more than a few NFL fanbases are already desperately clamoring for Caleb Williams, who’s been damn near flawless so far (1,200 yards, 15 TDs & 0 INTs) for the nation’s highest-scoring team

Oregon is averaging just 1 PPG less than the high-flying Trojans, thanks in large part to fifth-year senior QB Bo Nix. A high-profile win this past weekend over Colorado that featured 4 total Nix TDs has his Heisman stock continuing to climb 📈

There’s still a whole lot of season left, but it's looking likely that the PAC-12 will be well represented when finalists link up in NYC later this year for the Heisman ceremony. As you might except, the list of contenders is dominated by the quarterback position — check out updated odds for college football’s top individual honor 👇

2023 Heisman Odds (subject to change)

  • Michael Penix Jr.: +350

  • Caleb Williams: +380

  • Quinn Ewers (QB, Texas): +600

  • Bo Nix: +1200

  • Jordan Travis (QB, FSU): +1300

  • Sam Hartman (QB, Notre Dame): +1600

Penix Jr. and the Huskies are double-digit favorites on the road at Arizona this weekend, then they get a week off to catch their breath before facing five Top 25 teams over their last seven games. Make sure to mark down the October 14th meeting against Nix and the Ducks in bold on your calendars 😎
