Blue Bloods Galore

Aside from October, the Christmas season is arguably the best time to be a sports fan. From the NBA slate taking place on Christmas itself, to a plethora of NFL games spread across the holiday period, there’s a little something for everyone. For college basketball fans, tonight marks a clash of some of the most recognizable names in the sport as Duke takes on Baylor at MSG, while UNC clashes with Oklahoma in Charlotte as part of the Jumpman Invitational 😮‍💨

📍 Duke vs. Baylor

To begin the night, the Blue Devils essentially play host to Baylor. While the game will be played out in MSG, expect a majority of the crowd to represent the Duke-faithful 😈

  • Jared McCain has been eyeing this matchup since last week, after putting together a solid game during a win against Hofstra

  • Baylor meanwhile is coming off a disappointing loss to Michigan State — its only loss of the season so far — as they play their first ranked team this year

  • Duke’s gameplan will revolve around slowing Ja’Kobe Walter down, who leads the Bears in scoring at 14.3 PPG, and has emerged as a bonafide lottery prospect this season

  • Spread: Duke -1.5

  • Moneyline: Duke -110, Baylor -110

  • Over/Under: 154.5

  • When: 7PM EST on ESPN

📍 UNC vs. Oklahoma

The Jumpman Invitational was an initiative that began last year, revolving around four college programs that were the first to sign deals with Jordan Brand: Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma and North Carolina. Tonight marks the second year of the event, and this time has UNC matching up with Oklahoma in what will be a home crowd for the Tar Heels. Florida beat Michigan last night in a double-OT thriller ⚡️

The Sooners are undefeated (10-0) thus far in the season and will take on their first true test of the year — their strength of schedule up to this point has been fairly lackluster, with a formerly ranked USC team representing their toughest opponent so far 👀

  • Despite the addition of freshman Elliot Cadeau, who has not been able to carve out heavy minutes but is still a rotation player, UNC is a veteran-led squad

  • Senior RJ Davis leads the team in scoring at 21.6 PPG and Armando Bacot is still a force down low, averaging a double-double with 15.2 PPG and 11.3 RPG

  • Meanhwile, the continued development of Oklahoma’s second-year guard, Milos Uzan, has established him as a legitimate NBA prospect

  • Spread: UNC -2.5

  • Moneyline: UNC -128, OU +106

  • Over/Under: 154.5

  • Where to Watch: 9PM on ESPN

Trivia Question: How did the Jumpman Invitational shake out last December during its inaugural year?

For My Parlay Gurus

For better or for worse, I’m leaning towards both blue bloods to benefit from what should essentially be home crowds. While Madison Square Garden is technically a neutral site, the Duke faithful will arrive in droves to college hoop’s temple. Meanwhile, the Jumpman Invitational literally takes place in…North Carolina. Check out my parlay 👇

  • Duke ML vs. Baylor: -110

  • UNC ML @ Oklahoma: -128
