The 2023-24 college basketball season officially kicks off this week, and after last year’s crazy March Madness, I think it’s safe to say we’re all curious how this one plays out. UConn is our reigning National Champion, but the Final Four featured No. 5 San Diego State, No. 5 Miami and No. 9 Florida Atlantic. Factor in James Madison beating Michigan State last night and we’re really back 🔥

This year we have the usual suspects at the top of the rankings, but the preseason odds don’t give us a clear idea who experts like the best. Ten teams have title odds between +1100 and +2200, take a look 👇

National Champion Betting Odds

• Duke, Kansas, Purdue: +1100

• Michigan State: +1500

• Creighton, Marquette, Tennessee, Kentucky, Houston: +2000

• UConn: +2200

Who says old-school big men are out of style? Alright, the NBA does, but their loss is college basketball’s gain. Each of those three title co-favorites boast a preseason All-American who dominates in the paint 😤

Perhaps the biggest story of the offseason, Hunter Dickinson became one of the sport’s most important transfers ever when he decided to leave Michigan after three decorated seasons. Following weeks of speculation, he settled on the Jayhawks, and he instantly vaulted the 2022 champs up this year’s odds board 📈

• Fellow blue-blood Duke is right there with them, and sophomore big man Kyle Filipowski is a big reason why. He likely would have heard his name called in the first round of this years NBA Draft, but instead he’ll try to improve his stock while helping the Blue Devils chase the first title of the Jon Scheyer era

With reigning POTY Zach Edey returning for his senior campaign after putting up 22.3 PPG and 12.9 RPG last year, it’s easy to understand why oddsmakers are backing Purdue as well…but its also hard to forget how last season ended for them 😬

👆 let this also be a reminder just how much college basketball rules. But back to the behemoths — unsurprisingly, the three 7-footers we just mentioned lead the list of contenders for this year’s top individual honors 👇

Edey is one of the heaviest preseason Wooden/Naismith favorites in recent memory, and if he pulls it off, he’d be just the third player ever to win consecutive POTY awards. His repeat bid began last night, and if nothing else, he’s already given us this hilarious moment 😂

The season got started in style yesterday with a ridiculous amount of action, and don’t expect it to let up anytime soon. And while most teams like to get a few games under their belts against lighter competition, that doesn’t mean this week is without marquee matchups. Here’s some you won’t want to miss ⬇️

• 11/7: Auburn vs. #20 Baylor (9PM)

• 11/10: #12 Arizona vs. #2 Duke (7PM)

• 11/10: #15 Texas A&M vs. Ohio State (7PM)
